(NOTE: From January, 2011 to September, 2011, I methodically tasted through about 100 French wine appellations - jotting wine notes on the following map. I no longer update the map.)In addition to reading about French wine appellations, this is where I keep notes from tastings and keep track of wines I hold. I prefer to keep these on a map and in a book (Clive Coates). The map enables a geographical sense of the wines - tastes "southern", "northern", "eastern", etc. My tasting method also is geographical and a bit methodical: I started in the Loire in January, 2011; headed east towards Burgundy; then south to Rhone; then west to Languedoc, SW, and will end in Bordeaux.
