This new 40-acre Ferry Point Park lies near the Chesapeake Exploration Center on a peninsula bordered by Kent Narrows, the Chester River, and Piney Creek. The public park includes a 530-foot boardwalk that takes visitors over marsh and onto a trail leading to open space, a wooded area and a beach overlooking the river. In 2010, this newly opened park will see the addition of 4,000 feet of trails, finger piers, shoreline preservation work to stem erosion, picnic tables and benches, a pavilion, and signs interpreting the area and its history. Ferry Point Park can be reached by taking Piney Narrows Road to the Chesapeake Exploration Center. The boardwalk over the marsh begins near the Exploration Center.
