What is it? “Guerrilla Libraries” are installations and pop-up libraries. Everyone is encouraged to look, take, trade, make, or donate any of the books you find. This project is a campaign for education “Guerrilla Libraries” is part of the project Finding City 2012 that is partnered between the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery and Saskatoon Youth Arts Programming (SCAYP). The project is an attempt to build relationships between artists and the larger community through collaborative projects focused on networking, civic engagement, ideas and re-imaginings of the city, and the experience of contemporary urban living. ** Seven years ago, Shaunna Raycraft obtained a collection of approximately 300,000 books from the estate of a neighbour. Shaunna graciously donated the books used in this installation.Where can I see it? “Guerrilla Libraries” are currently installed in six different locations along Saskatoon's Meewasin Trail.
