About this map:

By Graeme Loughlin & Chris Goodman Sept 2010The walk was prepared to increase appreciation of the cultural significance of Hoddle Street and Punt Road (section north of the Yarra), in the shadow of the Department of Transport’s Hoddle Street Study. This compiles several heritage studies around Hoddle Streete street.Sites with red place marks are on the Victorian Heritage Register.Sites with blue place marks have been identified in earlier studies (as cited) such as Collingwood, Richmond, Yarra or East melb.A few sites with yellow place marks have not been identified in any heritage study. Some demolished sites are also identified. The descriptions in this walk are based on the Hoddle Street History Study 2010 by the same authors [unpublished]From 1837, Robert Hoddle was Officer-in-Charge of the Port Phillip Survey Department and became the first Surveyor General of Victoria in 1851. Hoddle Street was first shown on Robert Hoddle's first Town Reserve Plan for Melbourne.
