About this map:

Where will you dine in between Olympic events this summer? Even though there weren't any games during the summer of 1788, cosmopolitan English cooks vigorously competed for top honors. As Londoners like to get out of town during the summer months when the weather gets muggy, the July issue of 'The New London Magazine' (Kings Arms, Paternoster Row, July 1788) publicized the best eats in locales as far flung as Brentford Aits, Hampton Court, and Shepperton. Judging from the reviews, it seems like "Water-Souchey" (a Dutch fish soup) was the most sought after delicacy that summer.
