The historical locations in this map are interesting locations that have to do with events, people, and places that helped reshape the West after the bloodiest war in American history, the Civil War. After the was, the problems of the nation were far from solved. The United States was in shambles. The North and South were still divided on many issues. But even before the Civil War began, Congress had passed a piece of legislation for construction of a railroad that would connect the coasts. They were looking ahead. And so an age of reconstruction and growth began. But the growth and prosperity of the nation would not have been possible without events like homesteading and the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. That is why I have created this map. These locations are about these events, and some of my locations are where the events occurred and some are mounuments built because of these events. But these events, without a doubt, changed American history.
